People all around you,
People everywhere you go,
“Well Hi there……!” you try to say.
“How Ya doing……?”
But their heads only turn away.

Could it be me?
Is it something I possess, which puts them off?
Maybe my creed, my status, my height?
For even though I try to communicate,
They push me away with a snub that’s ever so slight.

This place is so large;
But still, I try to be polite.
I look them in the eye –
Maybe I’ll catch a sparkle or even a glimmer,
Leading to a smile and ultimately a “Hi’.

But their glances are directed ground-wards,
Quite probably, the soil’s more interesting than me.
It seems so impersonal, so individualistic, so segregated – a way to live.
One human being is independent of the other,
And society says – “that’s life”; but that’s not how life should be read!

We are but one – as we are but one with the plants;
As we are but one with the animals;
As we are but one with each other.
Chief Seattle once said:
“If all the beasts were gone, man would die from a great loneliness of spirit.”

How lonely man’s spirit must be.
He has driven away the beasts from his doorstep,
And though he lives with his fellow man,
He refuses to let all but a few into his heart.
Instead, deciding to run from them as if to flee?

You may call for an instant solution,
A logical way to solve this cataclysmic problem.
But there is no need for such complexity.
The answer is very simple – but many do not understand
That all we have to do, is continually kindle our hearts,

So that they remain
Everlastingly warm, touching all existence,
And choosing to return
To our Source’s reality,
Which freely pursues connections without fear or reservation.
